Show #500 - get your intros and requests in (02.09.2010)

If you’re confident with counting in decimal, you’ll know that Bleepshow #500 is coming up very soon. It’s likely to be a 2hr show, it may be split over a few shows, the exact details are still being worked out.

What I do know is that I want your input and contributions. This is your chance to be on an episode of Bleepshow and (hopefully) make it a little different to other shows.

I want you to select your favourite netlabel or Creative Commons music track that fits the Bleepshow style, and record a personal introduction for it. I’ll build the show from requests and selections, and you guys can do all the track introductions for a change :) You’re welcome to select a track played in a previous show, or something that’s brand new, or something that is a classic in its own special way.

Send your introductions (in MP3, WAV, AIFF or other sensible file format) to bleepshow [at] gmail.com, along with the details of your favourite netlabel/CC track. You don’t need to email me the track itself, if I’m having trouble tracking it down I may get in touch with you for a copy.

If you’re not comfortable recording your voice, that’s totally cool – just email me and include details of your request, and I’ll read your name out (if you’d like me to, of course).

Trust me when I say it’s worthwhile introducing your favourite track, when you record your voice and listen to it back for the first time, it sounds strange, but you get used to it very quickly – and you’ll have thousands of people downloading and listening to your favourite track.

Game on!

2010 A to Z of netlabels series (02.08.2010)

Cast your mind back to mid-2009 and you may recall a series of Bleepshows showcasing a single netlabel per show, an hour of music from each label. There were 26 shows in total and it was an interesting excursion into some of the netlabels I previously only had little knowledge of.

It’s now 2010 and I want to do it all again, with a different set of netlabels, but following the A to Z format. This is your opportunity to influence the running order of shows in the coming weeks and months. I would like your ideas for labels to feature in the upcoming series. You can suggest any netlabel, active or otherwise, ideally with a back catalog immediately available for download.

I’ll use this as a placeholder while decisions are made:

Ordinarily in this situation, suggestions that didn’t make it into the final list for the 2009 series would have first dibs for the 2010 series. Last time there were a number of excellent suggestions that were just pipped to the post by even more excellent suggestions. Unfortunately, when I moved the site to the new host, I lost a load of comments, so I only have a vague recollection of what was suggested (but not included) for the last run – so, it’s fair game for anything that wasn’t covered last time.

Leave me (and everyone else) a comment with your comments, netlabel suggestions and ideas. They are – as ever – welcomed. Let’s go!

For information, the 2009 A-to-Z series consisted:

Bleepshow is not a solo effort. There are some people I’d like to thank for the “extra bits” of the show (thanks, folks!):

If you like what you hear, check out the artists and labels featured. Send them feedback, try their other releases and spread the good word of electronic music! Remember, Bleepshow is all about great electronic music – without it, there would be no show. Massive thanks go out to the labels and artists featured in Bleepshows past, present and future.

Got suggestions for improving Bleepshow? Great! Tell me here: http://bleepshow.com/feedback-roadmap
